To be more precise Mohammad hadn't meant to take control over the world for money or for oil & he hadn't meant to force people to enter Islam as the multimedia says but on the contrary , the people have entered Islam by their own & that is because what have they seen of Islamic morals & honest & righteous of Muslims & there is no discrimination between Muslim & non.

1st what is the Jihad?
it's a declare the war against people who are fighting Islam & kill his people & prevent them from workship ALLAh or either prevent them from preaching about Islam Q: So who does declare the war 1st?
2nd what is the goal of Jihad ?
the absolute goal & the only goal for Jihad is application of law of Allah which is like if someone kills the a person he should be killed(even if the killer is Muslim & the slain is non Muslim there's no difference between Muslim & non Muslim) also there is no prostitution..etc ,BTW if foreign country ( like Persian ) attacks non Muslims ( even if the have the same religion) in Islamic country the Muslim will help & defends them..

The word Islam doesn't mean peace. I mean submission.
In other words those who follow Islam submit themselves fully toward, Allah the one god.
Islam has spread from Arabia to all over the world and a lot of it was done by the crusades.
However this in my opinion isn't much differnt from the way the christan chruch spread Christianity during it's days. This was acceptable in those days we both know that.

And yes the main belief for all muslims is,
Laa ilaaha ill Allah, Muhammad wa rasool Allah
There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet and messenger.

You do have some understanding of islam.
However allow me to clear a few things up.
Muhammad(SWA) was not a Catholic convert before he recived the revalations from Gabrial.
Muhammad(SWA) was born into pagnism, however he mostly followed jewish customs.

Also Muhammad(SWA) never wrote Al Quran down he memorized and passed on the knowledge to other belivers. It wasn't until the time of the first Caliph Abu Bakr(RAA) that the Quran was actually made in book form. And since that time the Quran has never been altered once.

As for the People of the Book. The Quran says that People of the Book should always be shown respect. Because Allah did give them divine books. The Jews the Torah, and the Christians the Gospel.
This has never changed.
Muslims that have treated people of the book with contempt have done so of their own accord but not by Al Quran.
